The Alameda County Office of Education's mission is to provide, promote, and support leadership and service to ensure the success of every child, in every school, every day!

  • ACOE has fiscal oversight of the county’s 18 school district budgets representing over $1.96 billion (figure represents general fund dollars). 
  • ACOE provides over 500 programs and services to district offices in all aspects of school operations, as well as teachers, administrators, parents, and community-based organizations supporting students in Alameda County.
  • ACOE delivers one-stop human resource/credentialing services to educators. In 2007-2008, ACOE serviced over 12,000 requests.
  • ACOE provides leadership in organizing regional approaches for the delivery of educational programs and support services, eliminating duplication of efforts and saving school district resources.
  • ACOE provides educational services to over 500 students in juvenile detention facilities and four community schools that serve at-risk youth.
Professional Development

Early Assessment Program: 12th Grade Expository Reading & Writing

This workshop is designed by high school educators and CSU English Faculty to help high school seniors develop CSU entry-level skills in English. The workshop starts on August 12, is FREE, and pre-registration is required.

ACOE's Math team spearheads the Mathematics Achievement Academies (MAA), an exciting new initiative that provides direct mathematics support to students during the summer and throughout the academic year. This summer there are 20 five-week institutes throughout the Bay Area.

Educators from Oakland, Pleasanton, Hayward, San Leandro, Livermore, Fremont and ACOE gathered for the Bay Area Physical Education and Health Subject Matter Project from July 19-23 at San Jose State University to learn about new content and applications to their teaching practices.
