Integrated Learning Specialist Program
The Integrated Learning Specialist Program provides K-12 teachers and teaching artists research-based frameworks and practice-proven strategies for supporting culturally-responsive arts-integrated teaching across the curriculum. Teachers participate in teacher action research and are provided with tools and knowledge to apply ongoing formative and summative performance based assessment.
The program offers three core courses and hands on electives in the arts disciplines:
-
Course A: Strategies and Resources for Arts Integration
-
Course B: Ongoing Assessment Strategies and Applications
-
Course C: Collaborative Curriculum Design
Continuing education units are available through CSU East Bay and Mills College. Graduate units are available through Lesley University upon successful completion of all three core courses.
Individuals can also work toward an Integrated Learning Specialist Certificate. The Certificate qualifies teaching artists, credentialed arts teachers, multiple subject and single subject credentialed teachers to provide leadership, as well as pedagogical and content knowledge to professional learning communities within their school and district contexts.
