LEAD Academy
Leadership in Equity, Accountability and Diversity Academy (LEAD) is a program that serves county educators through professional development offerings. The
principle goal of the program is to address the professional development needs of administrators and teachers so that they can deliver high quality programs and services for a diverse linguistic and cultural student community.
ELD - English Language Development Institutes
The Alameda County Office of Education English Learner Institutes will support teachers in using research-based resources that are proven to increase English Learner achievement. Presenters for each institute will be comprised of a platform of EL experts.
ELPD Elementary Institute:
English Language Instruction for the Elementary Classroom Teachers (Pre-k through 6th): This two-day series will focus on best practices, varied program models and structures, instructional monitoring tools and will provide opportunities to see effective strategies in action.
ELPD Secondary Institute:
English Language Instruction for the classroom teacher (middle and high school teachers): This two-day series will focus on research based strategies that support and accelerate the achievement of English Learners in all content areas. Teachers will learn to create an interactive linguistic arena to motivate and engage students in learning English by increasing their speaking and writing opportunities.
ELPD Administrator Institute:
ELPD Program Development, Monitoring, and Evaluation for Administrators: This workshop will provide resources to evaluate and improve your current program for English Learners. Included are strategies to address students’ needs and to evaluate EL programs. Technical assistance will be provided to help navigate the CPM waters, language proficiency and the academic achievement of English learners. The ELD focus will pinpoint program models, assessment, and special needs student considerations.
Special Needs for Language Learners
Program Development for compliance: These sessions provide program information for RtI2 and information, updates and interpretations regarding compliance issues for language learners with special needs.
Bridging Cultures
Balancing Diversity and Equity for Latino & African American Students: This series will maximize our strengths, skills, and commitment to raising the achievement of Latino and African American students through the use of tools for leveling the playing field of all learners thereby raising their level of achievement.
English Learner Master Plan Development and Revision
This session will cover the planning and organizational stages needed to refine or develop a master plan and to obtain approval and roll‐out procedures for implementation.

SB 472 ELPD English Learner Professional Development
ELPD is a 40‐hour training designed for teachers who have completed the CLAD or BCLAD authorization. It is designed to support effective implementation of the English Language Development component of the State Board adopted materials.
GLAD Training - Guided Language Acquisition Design
Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) is a model of professional development in the area of language acquisition and literacy for grades K‐8. The strategies and model promote English language acquisition, academic achievement, and cross‐cultural awareness.
